Safety of minerals?

QUESTION: “I am a little concerned with using a loose powder as I have heard that  they can be dangerous if inhaled ( which is easy to do when applying the powder). I was wondering what your thoughts are about this and have you been asked this before from other customers.

Why doesn’t pure Anada do  pressed powders? I really love how your product goes on and it spreads
and covers very nicely.”

ANSWER:   Yes, in the past we have been asked about the safety of loose minerals.  There are concerns regarding the inhalation of any fine particles.  The MSDS (material safety data sheets) for all of the minerals in our formulations warn against inhalation and recommend wearing a mask in production.

I personally do not believe there is a concern with the everyday application of product.  There shouldn’t be a cloud of dust when applying minerals if you are doing it properly.

The concern and warnings should be for personnel in the manufacturing process.  That is where they air gets filled with tiny particles for several hours a day.  We always wear filter masks when blending our products.

Lastly…
In fact we have recently launched a pressed foundation.  Here is the link: Pure Anada Sheer Matte Pressed Foundation.
Before the end of the year, we will also have a range of pressed cheek and eye colors.  We will still keep our loose mineral products.  It is more for the sake of convenience and preference that we are pressing the minerals, not for the sake of safety.  However, those that do have a concern may prefer the pressed for that reason.
I hope that all makes sense!  Thanks for asking…
